Privacy in plain language
Mono helps you translate and learn from videos you choose. Your Gemini key stays in your Chrome profile; subtitle text goes to Google only when you ask Gemini to translate. Your Mono account is used to connect the extension and confirm Pro access.
Your Mono account
The Chrome Web Store requires Mono Translate Pro to declare that the extension processes “Personally identifiable information.”
For Mono Translate Pro, this means basic account information such as:
- Email address
- Display name
- Mono account identifier
- Trial or Pro access status
This information is used only to identify your Mono account, show account status, synchronize Trial/Pro access, and connect the website with the Chrome extension.
Mono Translate Pro not request or collect government-issued identity documents, national ID numbers, passport information, driver's-license information, or similar identification documents.
Connecting your account and Gemini key
The Chrome Web Store also requires Mono Translate Pro to declare that the extension processes “Authentication information.”
In Mono Translate Pro, this mainly refers to:
- Device/account authorization tokens used to connect the extension securely to your Mono account
- The Gemini API key you choose to provide for translation
The Mono Translate Pro extension not receive, read, or store your Mono account password.
Your Gemini API key is stored in Chrome storage on your device/profile and is used to send translation requests directly to Google Gemini.
Your Gemini API key is not sent to Mono Translate Pro servers.
The YouTube video you choose
Mono Translate Pro needs access to the YouTube video you choose to translate.
Depending on the feature you use, the extension may process:
- The URL and title of the current YouTube video
- Available or automatically generated YouTube captions
- Video playback timing and subtitle synchronization information
This information is used only to provide subtitle translation, sentence reconstruction, timing synchronization, and related translation features.
Mono Translate Pro does not use this access to track unrelated browsing activity.
The YouTube page you are watching
The Chrome Web Store may classify access to the URL of the selected YouTube video as browsing information or web history.
Mono Translate Pro not read or collect your entire Chrome browsing history.
The extension only identifies the YouTube page or video you actively use with Mono Translate Pro when necessary to provide translation features.
Your Gemini key
Mono Translate Pro uses Google Gemini with a Bring Your Own Key model.
You use your own Gemini API key and always retain control of that key.
Subtitle content that needs translation is sent directly to Google Gemini using your own Gemini API key.
Mono Translate Pro does not use your Gemini API key for advertising, analytics, user profiling, or unrelated services.
Your trial and Pro access
Mono Translate Pro connects to the Mono account system to link the extension with your account, verify Trial or Pro status, maintain access for authorized devices, and refresh access status when needed.
Basic account information needed for these functions, such as your email address, display name, and access status, may be sent to the extension so it can display the correct account and Trial - Pro status.
